Proof of Life We offer proof of life services for the purposes of pensions and annuities.
Planning Dover Town Council acts as a planning consultee for planning applications made within the town wards. The planning authority is Dover District Council.
Licensing Dover Town Council is consulted on licensing applications within the town wards. The licensing authority is Dover District Council.
Street Lighting Although Dover Town Council has invested a significant amount of money to upgrade the street lighting through the Town Centre, they are in fact owned by Kent County Council. For any questions regarding street lights or furniture throughout the town, contact the KCC.
Fairtrade Dover fairtradeDover Town Council was granted Fairtrade Town status for Dover on the 20th February 2009. The Dover Fairtrade Network Group works to keep the status as we move forward. Promoting Fairtrade to the public in this way shows a commitment by the town to a fairer and more sustainable way of life for third world producers and their communities. Read our Fairtrade Pledge.
Planting Dover Town Council are responsible for the Dover War memorial and pockets of land on the corner of Queen Street & York Street. We also contribute towards tidying up of the planters through the Town. For all other areas, please direct questions to Dover District Council.
East Cliff Toilets east-cliff-toiletsEast Cliff Toilets are situated on Marine Parade and were refurbished and reopened in 2014. They are only open seasonally along with the Kiosk that is run by Pebbles CIC. Other Public Toilets Other Public Toilets are owned and run by Dover District Council.
Open Access Chalk Land Dover Town Council are the very proud owners of a wide section of open chalk land that is open to the public all year round and is well used by ramblers, Dog walkers and naturists, and is also home to the Konik Ponies. The land is managed by White Cliffs Countryside Partnership who quite frequently runs workshops for all. “Chalk grassland is one of richest habitats in Europe for wildlife and has been described as Europe’s equivalent of tropical rain forest. Dover and Shepway contain … about 1% of the chalk grassland in the world.” – Visit White Cliffs Countryside for more information.
Dover Greeters In 2012 Dover Town Council started a greeting services based on volunteers to meet, greet and advise tourists visiting the town during the summer months to answer any questions and generally give a welcoming feel to the Town. These services are still ongoing and the Dover Greeters are now a flourishing independent group.
