Hougham Village Hall

Hougham Village Hall is at the heart of the pretty village of West Hougham in Kent and is available for hire. It is suitable for a very wide range of events. Private parties, public meetings, charitable and fundraising events, child-based activities, keep-fit and dance classes, lectures, quiz nights, weddings, christenings and corporate events, have all hired the hall.

The hall, then known as the ‘Reading Room’ passed into private hands from the Kent Coal Fields Syndicate on 27 July 1886. It was purchased by Arthur Evanson on 30 March 1920 and subsequently gifted to the villages by Major Arthur Charles Tarver Evanson in remembrance of his son and other brave men of the parish who lost their lives in WW1. The Hall underwent refurbishment in 2019 providing a new kitchen, modernised, bright hall and new toilets. The venue is fully accessible with disabled toilets.

The Main Hall seats up to 100 or a maximum of 80 when laid out for dining. The Kitchen is fully equipped and ideal for catering. The Hall can apply for a license for public entertainment if required.
